Did Tim Tebow Improve His Draft Stock on Sunday?

Every year, guys surprise that many fans didn't know coming in but can boast that they've heard of a guy who could be a future NFLTim Tebow Pro Bowler.

But, when a guy with "star power" outperforms the hype already attached to him, it's exciting to watch.

Tim Tebow, already a fan favorite as people everywhere are trying to convince their teams to take him, may not have thrown at the Combine, but as far as everything else went with his Combine performance, he looked the part of an NFL athlete and may a quarterback.

Interviews

Even before the outstanding workout Tebow put on a display of his athletic ability, he already won the hearts (as if he needed to) of many NFL scouts and managers.

Obviously, team's had no need to question his "character" and there are no off-the-field issues that teams need to be concerned with.

Because a quarterback's makeup is more along the mental aspect of scouting as opposed to workouts, he may have kept his stock as a 2nd or 3rd round lock.

40 Yard Time - 4.72

From what we've seen in college, Tebow was more of a power runner than a projected "wildcat" back at the next level.

But, if scouts needed to know if Tebow could run away from defenders like he did college, they need not worry.

Tebow ran a blistering time for a quarterback witha 4.72. Anytime a quarterback runs a sub 4.9, teams begin to feel comfortable about him making plays with his feet.

Broad Jump - 9'07

The broad jump is one of two combine drills aimed at testing a prospects explosiveness. But, in the case for a quarterback, it shows me balance while displaying leg power.

Tebow showed that his ability to break tackles and keep moving forward in college was thanks to his great leg drive and explosion.

Now teams can feel more comfortable about his ability to get past arm tackles to the lower half of his body, and could Tebow showed that his ability to break tackles and keep moving forward in college was thanks to his great leg drive and explosion.

Vertical Jump - 38 inches

Maybe the most impressive part of Tebow's combine performance, a 38 inch vertical leap isn't just a great jump for a quarterback.

It's great for any athlete hoping to make a name for himself in the NFL. This shows two things to scouts. One, he continued to display that leg drive as a runner and his ability to make plays in open field. And two, if he did switch to a tight end type of player, he could get up and make a play in air for the ball.

More than likely, teams will like his vertical jump in the sense of making him a more athletic quarterback prospect, but for any player projected to be a "project" at the next level, any talents could help him get on the field quicker.

What We Still Need to Know

Teams would have liked to see Tebow throw at the Combine, but because this throwing motion transition had to happen eventually, they'll wait until his Pro Day.

That will likely be the biggest question leading up to the draft for Tebow, as it could determine if scouts are willing to groom him to be the quarterback of the future or not.

We'll see how things develop with Tebow as the draft process roles on, but if the Combine was the first step, it was a step in the direction of being a Top 50 player in the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft.
